Typesfast_
AI AUTOCORRECT FOR MAC
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 18 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Typesfast ("Typesfast," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use our macOS application (the "App"). Typesfast requires an account to use. Please read this policy carefully, the App captures text you type and may send it to a third-party AI service for correction, depending on your chosen correction mode.
What Typesfast Does
Typesfast runs in the background on your Mac and monitors text fields system-wide. When you pause after typing a sentence, Typesfast extracts the text from the current field and corrects any typos, then automatically replaces the original text with the corrected version. Typesfast does not operate in password fields or financial forms (see "Sensitive fields are automatically excluded" below).
Typesfast offers two correction modes:
Remote mode: extracted text is sent to Cerebras, our third-party AI provider, for processing.
Local mode: extracted text is processed entirely on your device using a locally-run model. Nothing leaves your Mac.
To extract text from the active field, Typesfast requires macOS's Screen Recording permission. This is explained in detail in the "Screen Recording Permission" section below.
Information We Collect
Text Content
When you pause while typing, Typesfast takes a screenshot of the active text field to extract the text in it. This screenshot is:
Taken locally on your device
Never seen by anyone (it is processed automatically by the App)
Deleted immediately after text extraction
Never transmitted anywhere (only the extracted text may leave your device in remote mode)
The extracted text is then sent for correction (to Cerebras in remote mode, or to a local model in local mode), and the corrected result is pasted back into the field.
Sensitive fields are automatically excluded. Typesfast does not activate in password fields, financial forms, or other fields marked as sensitive input by the operating system or the app you're using. In these fields, Typesfast does not capture, transmit, or correct your text at all — it simply does not run.
We do not store any text on our own servers. In remote mode, text is passed directly to Cerebras and the corrected result is returned. We retain no copy.
Account Information
Typesfast requires you to create an account to use the App. When you sign up, we collect:
Your email addressA password (stored in hashed form, we never see or store your plain-text password)
We use this information to authenticate you, manage your account, and contact you about the service.
Usage Analytics
We use PostHog, a third-party analytics provider, to understand how the App is used (for example, how often corrections are triggered, app crashes, or feature usage). This may include:
Device and OS information
App usage events and frequency
Approximate location (typically derived from IP address)
We do not use PostHog to identify you personally unless you've created an account or provided contact information separately.
Information We Do Not Collect
Typesfast does not sell or share your personal information with third parties for advertising purposes. We do not collect payment information directly.
Screen Recording Permission
Typesfast requires macOS's Screen Recording permission to function. This is the only way for the App to reliably read the content of the active text field across all applications on your Mac.
Here is exactly what this permission is used for:
When you pause while typing, Typesfast takes a screenshot limited to the current text field
Text is extracted from that screenshot locally on your device
The screenshot is immediately and permanently deleted
The screenshot itself never leaves your device under any circumstances
We are aware that "Screen Recording" sounds broad. In practice, Typesfast only ever captures a narrow area (the active field at the moment of correction) and discards the image the instant text has been extracted. No screenshot is stored, shared, or transmitted.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
Provide the core correction functionality (sending text to our AI provider and returning corrected results to you)
Understand usage patterns and improve the App
Diagnose bugs and crashes
Third Parties We Share Data With
AI Processing Provider
If you use remote mode, the text extracted from your active field is sent to Cerebras for processing. If you use local mode, no text is sent to any external service (correction happens entirely on your device).
For remote mode users: Cerebras's own privacy policy and terms govern how they handle submitted text.
All text sent to Cerebras is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
Analytics Provider
We use PostHog for product analytics. PostHog's own privacy practices apply to the data we send them; see https://posthog.com/privacy
No Sale of Data
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Data Retention
We don't store any text at all and it's purely passed through to the AI API and back.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information transmitted through the App, including encryption in transit via HTTPS. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Choices
Turn autocorrect off whenever you want. Typesfast can be quickly toggled on or off, so you control exactly when the App is active and monitoring your typing.
You can quit or disable Typesfast at any time to stop it from monitoring or correcting text entirely.
You can exclude specific additional apps via Settings.
You can opt out of analytics via Settings.
Children's Privacy
Typesfast is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
